A delightful Honey Baklava made with layers of phyllo dough, a rich nut mixture of walnuts and pistachios, and topped with a sweet honey syrup. This dessert combines a perfect blend of textures and flavors.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Make the Honey Syrup: Place the sugar and water in a saucepan and heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Add the honey and cardamom, bring to a boil, then lower heat and let simmer for about 25 minutes.
Remove syrup from heat and let cool to lukewarm, then remove the cardamom.
Make the nut mixture for filling: In a food processor, process walnuts and pistachios until coarsely chopped.
Assemble the Baklava: Sprinkle the nut mixture over the phyllo base, then top with the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each with melted butter.
Bake the baklava for 35 to 45 minutes or until the top turns golden and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
Pour syrup over baklava, let cool completely, and serve after the syrup has soaked in.
